CAUTION

X8 Collapsible Work BasketA couple of years ago, we had a Cargo Basket (model X8-CB) exposed to chemicals that degraded the rigging ropes to the point they all 24 of them broke at the same time. (No one was injured but the potential was there.) These ropes are rated at 9950 lbs. each (238,000 lbs. total) and the break was caused by carrying approximately 1500 lbs. Please be careful when exposing any fiber rope or sling to corrosive chemicals as it can seriously affect the performance and strength of the ropes.

Regular replacement and inspection of all lifting products is highly recommended. We would also recommend that all procedures that have the potential to subject synthetic ropes, slings and fall protection to corrosives be reviewed; as all of these products are possible targets of chemical degradation.

We have also added some additional tools for detecting chemical damage to our ropes in our inspection section of this website.

We will continue to update you as more information becomes available.
